Planning notes for the next ProofOfWork.Me phase: human-readable on-chain mail IDs, backed by Bitcoin OP_RETURN registry events.

## Developer Warning

Phase 1 is a canonical registry launch. Future developers and agents should treat this file as protocol documentation, not loose brainstorming.

Do not change these without an explicit migration plan:

- Mainnet registry address: `bc1qfwytlzyr3ym3enz2eutwtjsf9kkf6uqkjydk3e`
- Registration price: `1000` sats
- Protocol prefix: `pwid1:`
- Registration event: `pwid1:r2:<id-base64url>:<owner-address>:<receive-address>:<pgp-public-key-base64url?>`
- Resolver rule: first confirmed valid registration wins
- Casing rule: IDs are case-insensitive forever
- Pending rule: pending IDs are visible but not final, and mail must not route to them
- Verification rule: X verification actions appear only for IDs owned by or routed to the connected wallet

Implementation anchors in `src/App.tsx`:

- `ID_REGISTRY_ADDRESSES`
- `buildIdRegistrationPayload`
- `parseIdRegistrationPayload`
- `idRecordsFromTransactions`
- `resolveRecipientInput`
- `IdLaunchApp`

## Concept

ProofOfWork.Me IDs are aliases like:

```text
user@proofofwork.me
```

They are not traditional DNS records. They are on-chain mail IDs resolved by the ProofOfWork.Me app/indexer.

- Registry events live in Bitcoin OP_RETURN outputs.
- First valid registration wins.
- Registration requires a 1,000 sat payment to the canonical registry address.
- Transfers update the current owner/receiver.
- Future messages resolve to the current receiver.
- The app resolves IDs by scanning registry history and applying valid events in chain order.

## ID Model

Ownership and message delivery should be separate.

```text
ID: user@proofofwork.me
owner: pubkey/address that controls the ID asset
receiver: pubkey/address where messages are delivered
```

This lets an owner change the receiving address without selling the ID. It also lets a buyer receive future messages after the ID is transferred.

## Current Implementation

Mainnet registry address:

```text
bc1qfwytlzyr3ym3enz2eutwtjsf9kkf6uqkjydk3e
```

Testnet and testnet4 registry addresses are not configured yet. The app only enables live ID registration on networks with a configured registry address.

Phase 1 launch surface:

```text
id.proofofwork.me
```

The ID subdomain renders a focused mainnet claim flow using the same registry address and `pwid1:r2` protocol. It is intentionally narrower than the full mail app: connect UniSat, check availability, register, view registry stats, view owned IDs, view public registry records, and verify owned/routed IDs on X.

The full mail app remains on `proofofwork.me`. The ID subdomain is the first onboarding experience and should stay focused on claiming/resolving IDs, not reading mail.

Local preview:

```text
http://localhost:5173/?id-launch=1
```

ID-only launch build:

```bash
VITE_ID_LAUNCH_ONLY=1 npm run build
```

Use that environment variable for the Phase 1 server so the full mail app stays hidden even if someone opens the bare IP address or a non-ID hostname.

Current registration payload:

```text
pwid1:r2:<id-base64url>:<owner-address>:<receive-address>:<pgp-public-key-base64url?>
```

Rules:

- The transaction must pay at least `1000` sats to the registry address.
- The registry payment output must appear before the ID OP_RETURN output in the transaction.
- The OP_RETURN must start with `pwid1:`.
- IDs are case-insensitive forever. `User`, `user`, and `USER` all resolve to `user`.
- The app normalizes IDs to lowercase for writing, display, lookup, and first-claim comparisons.
- There is no arbitrary app-level ID length or character whitelist.
- Fresh registrations encode the ID field as base64url so punctuation and Unicode cannot break the colon-delimited registry format.
- The real size ceiling is the transaction's aggregate OP_RETURN data-carrier script limit of `100,000` bytes.
- Long IDs naturally cost more in bytes and fees, so the market prices them.
- Legacy `pwid1:r:<id>:...` registrations can still be read if their fields are parseable.
- New clients must write `r2`, not legacy `r`.
- First confirmed valid registration wins.
- Pending registrations can be displayed, but are not final.
- The compose flow must not route mail to a pending ID. IDs are sendable only after a confirmed registry record resolves to a receive address.
- Duplicate confirmed registrations are ignored by the resolver.
- Owner and receive address are separate fields.
- PGP public key data is optional and base64url encoded in the registration payload.
- After broadcast, the app can open a prefilled X post that includes the ID and registry tx link as optional social proof.
- Verification actions should appear only for IDs owned by or routed to the connected wallet, never for unrelated public registry records.

## Social Verification

X verification is not part of consensus. It is a public attestation layer.

The chain remains canonical:

- The ID is owned by the first confirmed valid registry transaction.
- The X post only proves the registrant chose to publicly associate an account with that transaction.
- The app can generate a prefilled post with the ID and mempool transaction link only from the owner's/routed wallet view.
- Future profile metadata can store an X proof URL on-chain with a `pwid1:meta` event.

## Future Metaprotocol

Everything below this point is future planning. It must not silently change Phase 1 behavior.

The metaprotocol should be marketplace-ready from the start, even if marketplace UI comes later.

Possible registry events:

```text
pwid1:r2:<id-base64url>:<owner>:<receiver>:<pgp-public-key-base64url?>
pwid1:u:<id-base64url>:<receiver>
pwid1:t:<id-base64url>:<new-owner>:<new-receiver?>
pwid1:k:<id-base64url>:<pgp-public-key-base64url>
pwid1:list:<id-base64url>:<price>:<currency>
pwid1:unlist:<id-base64url>
pwid1:bid:<id-base64url>:<bidder>:<price>:<currency>
pwid1:accept:<id-base64url>:<bid-txid>
pwid1:buy:<id-base64url>:<listing-txid>
pwid1:meta:<id-base64url>:<metadata>
```

Rules to preserve:

- All event ID fields should be base64url encoded and normalized case-insensitively by resolvers.
- `r2` is valid only if the ID is unclaimed.
- `u`, `t`, `k`, `list`, `unlist`, and `accept` are valid only from the current owner.
- `buy` is valid only against an active listing.
- Marketplace events should be verifiable from chain history.
- The resolver should expose both current owner and current receiver.

## Marketplace Readiness

IDs should behave like transferable assets.

- Owners can list IDs for sale.
- Buyers can purchase listed IDs.
- Bidders can place offers.
- Owners can accept bids.
- Owners can unlist IDs.
- Marketplaces can verify current ownership from the chain.
- The current receiver determines where new mail is delivered.

## Node Purpose

The node is only for ProofOfWork.Me infrastructure.

- It does not hold funds.
- It does not hold private keys.
- It does not sign transactions.
- Users keep funds in UniSat or other wallets.
- Users sign locally in the browser.
- The backend/node reads, indexes, verifies, and optionally broadcasts already-signed transactions.

## Architecture

Current app can remain static/browser-first. The future node/indexer improves reliability, privacy, and sovereignty.

```text
Static frontend
  -> ProofOfWork.Me API/indexer
  -> Bitcoin Core node
```

Transaction flow:

```text
User wallet signs locally
  -> ProofOfWork.Me API receives signed tx
  -> Bitcoin Core broadcasts/verifies
  -> Indexer watches blocks/mempool
```

## Why Run A Node

Current ProofOfWork.Me works with UniSat and mempool.space. A dedicated node/indexer would improve:

- Reliability.
- Privacy.
- Broadcast control.
- Registry indexing.
- Alias resolution.
- Independence from public APIs.

Bitcoin Core alone does not provide an easy address-history or OP_RETURN protocol-search API. ProofOfWork.Me should use Bitcoin Core with an indexer.

Possible indexer approaches:

- Esplora/electrs for general address and transaction APIs.
- A custom ProofOfWork.Me indexer for `pwid1:` registry events and `pwm1:` mail events.

The custom indexer should scan blocks, parse OP_RETURNs, resolve IDs, and expose fast API endpoints.

## VPS Specs

Suggested infrastructure sizes:

| Use | Specs |
| --- | --- |
| Bare full node | 2 vCPU, 4 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD |
| Comfortable node | 4 vCPU, 8 GB RAM, 1-2 TB NVMe |
| ProofOfWork.Me node + indexer | 4-8 vCPU, 16 GB RAM, 2 TB NVMe |

Recommended starting point:

```text
4 vCPU
8 GB RAM
2 TB NVMe
Unmetered bandwidth
```

Important notes:

- Use SSD/NVMe, not HDD.
- Do not expose Bitcoin Core RPC publicly.
- Open port `8333` only for Bitcoin P2P/inbound peers.
- Do not prune if complete historical registry/mail indexing matters.
- Use `txindex=1` or a dedicated indexer depending on final backend design.

## Big Picture

ProofOfWork.Me can stay simple and browser-native while becoming more sovereign over time.

- Today: static client, UniSat signing, mempool.space APIs.
- Next: ProofOfWork.Me IDs with an OP_RETURN registry.
- Later: custom node/indexer for reliable mail and ID resolution.
- Marketplace-ready IDs can become transferable on-chain assets.
- The backend improves data access without becoming custodial.

confirmed network value / 21,000,000 WORK

Current live floor:
74,499,503 sats / 21,000,000 = 3.5476 sats per WORK
≈ $0.00277 per WORK at current BTC/USD

Pending mints are visible, but only confirmed Bitcoin history moves the canonical floor.

As ProofOfWork.Me grows, the network value grows.
As network value grows, the $work floor rises.

"ICO launches a highly exclusive new token where the price increases automatically after every purchase. You will be able to pay with BRC20 or Runes assets . these grant you a significant multiplier on your purchasing power compared to regular buyers who use Bitcoin (which stays at a 1:1 rate). So early buyers snatch up the tokens for almost nothing before latecomers pump the price to the sky to the moon"

This is credit registry add of "DRAIN" credit.
Now everyone can mint drain credits and try to be first to drain the wallet.

*as a bonus ,just before sending this mail i also bought draindao powid from dao add, i made the tx at 0.1 sat/vb :)
gl all let the drain games begin.

pwm1:s:NDIwayB3b3JrIHRva2VuIG9uIG1hcmtldHBsYWNlIGZsb29yLgpwm1:m:Yo dude.

Is this your first time listing packs?

Delist that 420k $work token pack and break that shit up into smaller listings to sell.

You'll get better value out of it.

pwm1:m:Yo bro the work transfers not showing or updating the transaction and balance in the wallet. Also listing is not creating the tX so as to seal tx. there is a bug somewhere there feels like. some buyer sales are stuck at 0.1sat as well. can see the transactions in mempool if we check with address but not reflected in the wallet. please check with your AI.
pwm1:m:yo bro can you see my messages here. there is a bug i guess the transfers only creating registry mutation transaction not reflecting in wallet updation and also while listing not showing sealed transaction. please check with your AI if there is a bug somewhere there?
pwm1:m:may be indexing issue only. the mempool is showing the transaction but not the other wallet or transfer log or listing log. so cool we can launch bonds. my sats got stuck in low fee transaction waiting a bit and will be firing nonstop bonds

WORK transfers/buys/listing history look indexed now. Seems like pending low-fee/mempool weirdness, not a broken ledger.

Good catch.

The ID marketplace works fine i guess with seal transaction appearing after listing. I can seal them. For credits when you list the listing transaction and seal tab that used to come alive just flashes and dissappears. The transaction is broadcasted and you can see in the mempool however does not show in the wallet. Also transfers are also not showing in the other wallet. I tried with multiple ones. The holder count is also not increasing as it might be connected. Another thing i noticed credit POW is showing 15% but when you try to mint satys minted out. Some listings that i attempted not showing in unsealed marketplace as well. I tried with two different laptops windows and mac and google pixel and iphone same issue. I have asked my friend from another geographical location to try as well. Will update. all are on mempool confirmed transactions so balances across wallets holder count etc should change right? The listing goes through but cant seal as the tab disappears. Also i figured out how to reverse low fee transactions through unisat utxo tool. Unlock them and send them back. It worked fine.just send them back to yourself and fees was like 3 sats to reverse 0.1. I reversed 11 of my mint ones which had large chunks of btc stuck.

Good catch. You were right about the POW ticker path. It was pulling aggregate credit supply into POW’s mint check. Fixed and deployed.

POW now shows: 1,535,200 confirmed, 0 pending, 6 holders, max 10,101,010.

pwm1:m:ProofOfWork.Me WORK Pricing Protocol V2

Effective from the activation point named by this declaration, a WORK marketplace listing, seal, or purchase is valid only when its total seller price is greater than or equal to the canonical WORK network-value floor.

For an action confirmed at block H:

minimumPriceSats =
ceil(
  amountAtoms * liveNetworkValueSats(H-1)
  / (21000000 * workAtomsPerWork)
)

liveNetworkValueSats(H-1) must come from the last green canonical ProofOfWork Computer ledger snapshot, bound to the exact hash of block H-1.

Every V2 listing, seal, and purchase must identify the oracle block height, oracle block hash, network value, amountAtoms, and minimum price used for validation.

A missing, stale, hash-mismatched, inconsistent, or below-floor action is invalid and causes no canonical WORK balance, ownership, marketplace, sale, Log, Growth, or network-value mutation.

Only transactions accepted by these deterministic rules are canonical ProofOfWork Computer WORK actions. Third-party and OTC transfers are not canonical WORK state transitions unless they satisfy the active protocol and are accepted by the canonical verifier.

This declaration extends the WORK Marketplace Pricing Protocol V2 declared by transaction 4c53252c6e9279726e1456f4d846274bfa33f778b633d32a68ed36906b38083f.

The governed WORK market is now named AMO: Autonomous Money Organization.

Let D be the confirmed block containing this declaration. This protocol activates at block D + 1.

After activation, a canonical WORK listing, seal, or purchase must use authorization version pwt-sale-v4 and exactly one permitted USD face unit:

allowedFaceUsdCents = {
1000,
2000,
5000,
10000,
20000,
50000,
100000,
200000,
500000,
1000000
}

These values represent:

$10, $20, $50, $100, $200, $500, $1000, $2000, $5000, and $10000.

USD QUOTE PROTOCOL

The USD oracle authority is the exact previous-output scriptPubKey spent by input zero of this declaration transaction.

A canonical USD quote uses:

pwa1:usd1:<declarationTxid>:<sequence>:<previousQuoteTxid>:<usdPer100mProofsQ8>

usdPer100mProofsQ8 is the USD value of 100,000,000 proofs multiplied by 100,000,000 and encoded as a canonical positive decimal integer.

For example, a quote of $64,825 per 100,000,000 proofs is encoded as:

6482500000000

The first quote has sequence 1 and previousQuoteTxid equal to this declaration transaction id. Every later quote increments sequence by exactly one and references the preceding canonical quote transaction.

A quote is canonical only when:

1. it is confirmed;
2. input zero spends an output with the oracle authority scriptPubKey;
3. it contains exactly one valid pwa1:usd1 record;
4. it pays at least 546 proofs to the canonical WORK registry address 1638Vn6KtmK8p5r4oGvAXq9nmZb1emU1DV;
5. its sequence and previousQuoteTxid extend the canonical quote chain.

When competing quote records reference the same predecessor, the first record in canonical block height, transaction index, output index, and transaction id order wins. All competing records are invalid.

A listing confirmed at block L must use the latest canonical quote confirmed at or before L - 1.

The quote remains valid through:

unitValidThroughHeight = usdQuoteBlockHeight + 144

The listing, seal, and purchase must all confirm no later than unitValidThroughHeight. Missing, expired, unauthorized, forked, or unverifiable quotes fail closed.

UNIT FUNCTION

All arithmetic uses unsigned integers only. Floating-point arithmetic is forbidden.

Let:

F = unitFaceUsdCents
P = unitUsdPer100mProofsQ8
N = listing-time liveNetworkValueQ8 from block L - 1
S = 21000000
A = 100000000 atoms per WORK
Q = 100000000
R = 100000000 proofs
U = 100000000
ceilDiv(x,y) = (x + y - 1) / y using integer division

Then:

targetNumerator = F * R * U
targetDenominator = 100 * P

unitPriceSats =
ceilDiv(
targetNumerator,
targetDenominator
)

unitAmountAtoms =
floor(
targetNumerator * S * A * Q
/
(targetDenominator * N)
)

unitMinimumPriceSats =
ceilDiv(
unitAmountAtoms * N,
S * A * Q
)

A valid pwt-sale-v4 listing requires:

unitFaceUsdCents is in allowedFaceUsdCents;
unitAmountAtoms is greater than zero;
amountAtoms equals unitAmountAtoms;
priceSats equals unitPriceSats;
unitMinimumPriceSats equals the recomputed listing-time minimum;
priceSats is greater than or equal to unitMinimumPriceSats.

The proof payment rounds upward. The WORK amount rounds downward. No arbitrary amount, arbitrary price, markup, discount, or below-network-value listing is canonical.

IMMUTABLE UNIT COMMITMENT

Every pwt-sale-v4 listing must commit:

unitModel = canonical-work-amo-usd-unit-v1
unitFaceUsdCents
unitUsdOracleModel = canonical-amo-chain-usd-quote-v1
unitUsdQuoteTxid
unitUsdQuoteVout
unitUsdQuoteSequence
unitUsdQuoteBlockHeight
unitUsdQuoteBlockHash
unitUsdQuoteBlockIndex
unitUsdPer100mProofsQ8
unitValidThroughHeight
unitWorkOracleBlockHeight
unitWorkOracleBlockHash
unitNetworkValueQ8
unitAmountAtoms
unitPriceSats
unitMinimumPriceSats

These unit fields, the WORK amount, the proof price, and all sale-ticket economic terms are immutable from listing through seal and purchase.

The USD conversion is fixed when the listing confirms. It is not recomputed after listing.

LIVE NETWORK-VALUE VALIDATION

Every listing, seal, and purchase must also retain the active WORK Pricing Protocol V2 fields:

oracleModel
oracleBlockHeight
oracleBlockHash
oracleNetworkValueQ8
minimumPriceSats

For an action confirmed at block H, these fields must identify the exact canonical WORK network-value snapshot at H - 1.

The current minimum price is:

minimumPriceSats =
ceilDiv(
amountAtoms * oracleNetworkValueQ8,
21000000 * 100000000 * 100000000
)

The immutable unit price must remain greater than or equal to this current minimum.

If the WORK network-value floor overtakes the fixed unit price, the listing can no longer be sealed or purchased. The seller must create a new listing from a current USD quote and current network value.

ACTIVATION AND CUTOVER

From block D + 1:

1. pwt-sale-v4 is the only canonical authorization version for new WORK listings, seals, and purchases;
2. active pwt-sale-v3 WORK listings become immutable pre-unit relics;
3. pre-unit listings stop reserving WORK balances and cannot be sealed or purchased;
4. pending or confirmed post-activation pwt-sale-v3 actions are invalid audit history only;
5. existing V1 relic history remains immutable;
6. non-WORK credits, POWB, and INCB retain their existing protocols;
7. pending transactions provide visibility only and never create canonical AMO state.

A missing, stale, expired, unauthorized, hash-mismatched, mathematically inconsistent, non-unit, below-floor, or unverifiable action causes no canonical WORK balance, ownership, AMO, sale, Log, Growth, or network-value mutation.

Only transactions accepted by these deterministic rules are canonical ProofOfWork Computer AMO actions.

Confirmed chain history is authoritative. Pending transactions provide visibility only.pwt1:send2:d4e5ebf11d104d6a63fb74e42094364b25a5f7199a09e5c0e71408972466a8b8:183200000000000:1F1p9UEHuH5KTFR7Zsx93Khdrqhj6t5nFv

This declaration amends the WORK AMO Unit Protocol V1 declared by transaction b578601bf1c1804b6afb4b030cfa5207c9894f4b5a2d2bc5ce5a9369534ed837 and the WORK Marketplace Pricing Protocol V2 declared by transaction 4c53252c6e9279726e1456f4d846274bfa33f778b633d32a68ed36906b38083f.

The governed WORK market is AMO: Autonomous Money Organization.

The canonical public interface is amo.proofofwork.me. Interface location does not determine protocol validity.

This declaration supersedes every prior clause that:

1. calculates listing-time WORK value only from block H - 1;
2. requires a confirmed listing to be repriced when it is sealed or purchased;
3. allows a later network-value increase or USD quote expiration to invalidate an already-confirmed valid listing; or
4. permits new governed WORK face units other than those expressly allowed by this declaration.

All non-conflicting historical rules remain immutable.

DECLARATION AUTHORITY AND ACTIVATION

This declaration is valid only when:

1. it is confirmed;
2. input zero spends an output with the declaration authority scriptPubKey established by the V1 declaration;
3. it pays at least 546 proofs to the canonical WORK registry address 1638Vn6KtmK8p5r4oGvAXq9nmZb1emU1DV before the protocol output; and
4. it contains exactly this declaration.

Let D be the confirmed canonical block containing this declaration.

This protocol activates at block D + 1.

From activation, new governed WORK listings, seals, and purchases use authorization version pwt-sale-v5 and:

unitModel = canonical-work-amo-usd-unit-v2
stateOrderModel = canonical-proof-state-order-v1
amountModel = canonical-confirmed-position-derived-work-amount-v1
unitUsdOracleModel = canonical-amo-chain-usd-quote-v1
unitWorkOracleModel = canonical-work-prefix-before-action-v1
bondTransitionModel = canonical-compute-then-bond-v1

CANONICAL ORDER OF OPERATIONS

Every confirmed protocol action X has the canonical position:

position(X) =
(
  blockHeight,
  blockTransactionIndex,
  protocolVout,
  recordOrdinal
)

Where:

blockHeight is the canonical confirmed block height.

blockTransactionIndex is the zero-based position of the transaction in the canonical full-node block transaction array.

protocolVout is the zero-based transaction output containing the protocol action.

recordOrdinal is the zero-based protocol-record position within that output and is zero when the output contains one record.

Positions are compared lexicographically from left to right.

Transaction identifiers identify transactions but do not determine their order.

Lexicographic, numeric, or timestamp sorting of txids is forbidden for confirmed state.

Mempool arrival time, displayed confirmation time, createdAt, database insertion order, and event identifiers do not determine confirmed protocol order.

The canonical block hash binds every position to the canonical chain.

A missing, duplicated, inconsistent, unavailable, or unverifiable canonical position fails closed.

The order of operations is:

1. confirmed block height;
2. transaction position inside that block;
3. protocol output position inside that transaction;
4. protocol record position inside that output;
5. the deterministic integer formulas defined below;
6. validation and freezing of the event result;
7. application of the event’s bond contribution.

Each valid action is completely calculated, validated, frozen, and applied before the next canonical position is evaluated.

For action X:

stateBefore(X) =
the state produced by replaying every valid confirmed action Y for which position(Y) is less than position(X).

stateAfter(X) =
apply(X, stateBefore(X)) when X is valid.

An invalid action causes no state mutation.

The next action uses the unchanged prior state.

SEQUENTIAL BLOCK REPLAY

There is no simultaneous confirmed protocol state.

Transactions that appear simultaneous to users are totally ordered by their confirmed canonical positions.

For confirmed block H, let its ordered Computer events be:

E1, E2, E3, ... Em

Let:

N(H,0) =
the final canonical liveNetworkValueQ8 from the end of block H - 1.

For each event Ek, in canonical order:

Nbefore(Ek) =
N(H,k-1)

First calculate and validate Ek using Nbefore(Ek).

If Ek is invalid:

N(H,k) =
N(H,k-1)

If Ek is valid:

1. freeze every economic and state result of Ek;
2. calculate canonicalBondContributionQ8(Ek);
3. calculate:

N(H,k) =
N(H,k-1) + canonicalBondContributionQ8(Ek)

The final network value of block H is:

Nend(H) =
N(H,m)

Nend(H) becomes the opening network value for block H + 1.

This replay rule applies identically whether one event or thousands of events confirm in the same block.

Each event is processed once.

An implementation may fetch, decode, and verify independent transaction data concurrently, but canonical state calculation and application must produce exactly the same result as the sequential replay defined here.

Partial block results are not canonical.

A block-derived state becomes canonical only after the entire block, its canonical block hash, every relevant transaction position, and every state transition have been verified.

If a block is detached from the canonical chain, its derived state is removed and the replacement canonical branch is replayed in the same deterministic order.

COMPUTE-THEN-BOND STATE TRANSITION

Every valid confirmed ProofOfWork Computer event is a bond event and may add to network value under the canonical network-value accounting rules.

For event X:

Nbefore(X) =
liveNetworkValueQ8(stateBefore(X))

The Computer first calculates and validates X using Nbefore(X).

If X is pending, invalid, unavailable, or unverifiable:

canonicalBondContributionQ8(X) = 0

Nafter(X) = Nbefore(X)

and X causes no canonical state or network-value mutation.

If X is valid, the Computer first freezes every economic result of X and then calculates:

Nafter(X) =
Nbefore(X) + canonicalBondContributionQ8(X)

An event’s own bond contribution is never included in its own calculation.

The valid contribution of X becomes available immediately after X and is included when evaluating every later canonical position, including later transactions in the same block.

Therefore:

1. a bond transaction ordered before a listing changes the value used by that listing;
2. a bond transaction ordered after a listing does not change or reprice that listing;
3. a valid listing adds its own bond contribution only after its terms are calculated and frozen;
4. the next listing sees the preceding valid listing’s contribution;
5. an invalid event contributes zero and does not affect later calculations.

Every proof payment, registry payment, miner fee, and other canonical network-value component is counted exactly once.

A proof output or fee must not be counted again merely because one transaction contains multiple protocol records.

A transaction-wide miner fee is applied exactly once after the final protocol record of that transaction. It becomes visible to later transactions and is never included in the calculation of an action within its own transaction.

A listing’s bond contribution includes only the proof value recognized for its confirmed listing transaction under the canonical network-value rules.

A future buyer payment is not counted as listing value before that purchase confirms. The purchase becomes its own later bond event.

USD FACE UNITS

The starting human-readable USD face units of this protocol are exactly:

allowedFaceUsd =
{
  20,
  50,
  100
}

The corresponding canonical integer values are:

allowedFaceUsdCents =
{
  2000,
  5000,
  10000
}

These values represent:

$20
$50
$100

No other USD face unit may be used by a new pwt-sale-v5 listing unless a future valid declaration explicitly changes the set.

For every listing:

unitFaceUsdCents =
unitFaceUsd * 100

The human-readable and cent-denominated values must correspond exactly.

USD QUOTE PROTOCOL

The USD oracle authority is the exact previous-output scriptPubKey spent by input zero of the V1 declaration transaction:

b578601bf1c1804b6afb4b030cfa5207c9894f4b5a2d2bc5ce5a9369534ed837

A canonical USD quote uses:

pwa1:usd1:<v1DeclarationTxid>:<sequence>:<previousQuoteTxid>:<usdPer100mProofsQ8>

Where:

v1DeclarationTxid =
b578601bf1c1804b6afb4b030cfa5207c9894f4b5a2d2bc5ce5a9369534ed837

usdPer100mProofsQ8 is the USD value of 100,000,000 proofs multiplied by 100,000,000 and encoded as a canonical positive decimal integer.

The first quote has sequence 1 and previousQuoteTxid equal to the V1 declaration transaction id.

Every later quote increments sequence by exactly one and references the preceding canonical quote transaction.

A quote is canonical only when:

1. it is confirmed;
2. input zero spends an output with the USD oracle authority scriptPubKey;
3. it contains exactly one valid pwa1:usd1 record;
4. it pays at least 546 proofs to the canonical WORK registry address 1638Vn6KtmK8p5r4oGvAXq9nmZb1emU1DV;
5. its sequence increments the preceding canonical quote by exactly one;
6. its previousQuoteTxid references that preceding canonical quote; and
7. its canonical position is complete and verifiable.

When competing quote records reference the same canonical predecessor, the quote with the lowest canonical position wins.

Every competing later quote referencing that predecessor is invalid and causes no quote-chain mutation.

USD QUOTE ORDER

For a listing L:

quoteBefore(L) =
the latest valid canonical USD quote Q for which position(Q) is less than position(L).

A quote earlier in the same block is included.

A quote later in the same block is not included.

The selected quote must satisfy:

listingBlockHeight <= usdQuoteBlockHeight + 144

Quote expiration is tested only when the listing confirms.

Once a listing confirms valid, a later quote, a changed quote value, or expiration of its original quote cannot invalidate or reprice that listing.

CONFIRMATION-DERIVED UNIT FUNCTION

A pending pwt-sale-v5 listing commits one permitted USD face unit and authorizes this deterministic function.

A pending listing does not choose an arbitrary WORK amount or arbitrary proof price.

The canonical WORK amount and proof price do not exist until the listing confirms and receives its canonical position.

Let L be a confirmed listing.

Let:

F = unitFaceUsdCents

P = quoteBefore(L).usdPer100mProofsQ8

N = Nbefore(L)

S = 21000000

A = 100000000 atoms per WORK

Q = 100000000 network-value precision

R = 100000000 proofs

U = 100000000 USD quote precision

floorDiv(x, y) =
x / y using unsigned integer division

ceilDiv(x, y) =
(x + y - 1) / y using unsigned integer division

All values must be positive canonical unsigned integers.

Floating-point arithmetic is forbidden.

Every multiplication is completed before the indicated integer division.

Implementations must use integer arithmetic with sufficient precision and must fail closed on overflow.

Calculate:

targetNumerator =
F * R * U

targetDenominator =
100 * P

unitPriceSats =
ceilDiv(
  targetNumerator,
  targetDenominator
)

unitAmountAtoms =
floorDiv(
  targetNumerator * S * A * Q,
  targetDenominator * N
)

unitMinimumPriceSats =
ceilDiv(
  unitAmountAtoms * N,
  S * A * Q
)

A listing is valid only when:

1. F is in allowedFaceUsdCents;
2. quoteBefore(L) exists and is valid;
3. N is greater than zero;
4. unitPriceSats is greater than zero;
5. unitAmountAtoms is greater than zero;
6. unitMinimumPriceSats is greater than zero;
7. unitPriceSats is greater than or equal to unitMinimumPriceSats;
8. the seller has at least unitAmountAtoms of spendable WORK at stateBefore(L);
9. every existing seller, registry, signature, sale-ticket, and anchor rule is satisfied.

The proof payment rounds upward.

The WORK amount rounds downward.

The USD face unit remains fixed.

The amount of WORK represented by that face unit is determined by the exact network value immediately before the listing’s confirmed canonical position.

When an earlier valid event in the same block increases network value, every later listing in that block uses the increased value.

A listing does not contribute to its own unit calculation.

Its valid bond contribution becomes available only after its unit terms are calculated, validated, and frozen.

CONFIRMED LISTING COMMITMENT

When a pwt-sale-v5 listing confirms valid, the ProofOfWork Computer derives and permanently binds:

unitModel
stateOrderModel
amountModel
bondTransitionModel
unitFaceUsd
unitFaceUsdCents
unitUsdOracleModel
unitUsdQuoteTxid
unitUsdQuoteVout

Where:

unitNetworkValueBeforeQ8 =
Nbefore(L)

listingBondContributionQ8 =
canonicalBondContributionQ8(L)

unitNetworkValueAfterQ8 =
unitNetworkValueBeforeQ8 + listingBondContributionQ8

These confirmation-derived fields become the immutable economic terms and canonical state transition of the listing.

The seller’s listing signature authorizes the exact deterministic result of the unit function at the listing’s eventual canonical position.

It does not authorize an arbitrary amount, markup, discount, or alternative price.

Pending amount and price displays are estimates only.

Pending transactions create no canonical listing terms or network-value contribution.

SEAL AND PURCHASE FINALITY

A confirmed valid listing remains eligible to be sealed and purchased at its immutable confirmation-derived terms.

A seal or purchase must:

1. reference the exact confirmed listing;
2. use authorization version pwt-sale-v5;
3. reproduce or reference the listing’s immutable derived terms;
4. transfer exactly unitAmountAtoms;
5. require exactly unitPriceSats as the unit sale price;
6. satisfy the existing ownership, signature, buyer, registry-payment, miner-fee, sale-ticket, anchor, and unspent-listing rules; and
7. appear after the listing in canonical order.

A seal or purchase must not recompute the listing’s WORK amount, USD price, USD quote, or network-value floor using the seal or purchase block.

The following events cannot invalidate an already-confirmed valid listing:

1. a later WORK network-value increase;
2. a later WORK network-value decrease;
3. a later bond;
4. a later transfer;
5. a later listing;
6. a later sale;
7. a later USD quote;
8. expiration of the listing’s original USD quote;
9. high traffic or the confirmation of any number of later events.

Network value and USD quote validity are admission rules for the listing at its confirmed canonical position.

They are not continuing conditions after the listing confirms.

A confirmed listing may close only through:

1. a valid seal and purchase;
2. a valid delisting;
3. expiration explicitly committed by the listing itself; or
4. the canonical spend of its sale-ticket outpoint under the existing outpoint rules.

A listing that was invalid when it confirmed is not resurrected by this declaration.

V1 LISTING MIGRATION

A pwt-sale-v4 listing confirmed before activation of this corrective declaration remains historical protocol state.

If that listing was valid at its own confirmation under the V1 listing-admission rules, its committed WORK amount, proof price, USD face unit, and listing-time network value become frozen terms.

Such a listing may be sealed or purchased after activation through a pwt-sale-v5 action referencing the original listing.

It must not be rejected because:

1. the current network value exceeds its frozen unit price;
2. its original USD quote later expired; or
3. its historical face unit is not available for new pwt-sale-v5 listings.

A pwt-sale-v4 listing that was invalid when confirmed remains invalid.

After activation:

1. new WORK listings must use pwt-sale-v5;
2. new seals and purchases must use pwt-sale-v5;
3. new pwt-sale-v5 listings may use only $20, $50, or $100;
4. post-activation pwt-sale-v4 listings are invalid audit history only;
5. pre-unit pwt-sale-v3 listings remain immutable relics;
6. existing Marketplace V1 relic history remains immutable;
7. non-WORK credits, POWB, and INCB retain their existing protocols.

FAIL-CLOSED RULE

A missing, stale, unauthorized, forked, hash-mismatched, position-mismatched, mathematically inconsistent, non-unit, insufficient-balance, unsigned, duplicated, overflowed, partially processed, or otherwise unverifiable action causes no canonical WORK balance, ownership, AMO listing, sale, Log, Growth, bond contribution, or network-value mutation.

Only actions accepted by these deterministic state-order, compute-then-bond, and unit rules are canonical ProofOfWork Computer AMO actions.

Confirmed canonical chain history is authoritative.

declarationEvidenceRule=this declaration is valid only when its transaction is confirmed and canonical, input zero spends the declared authority scriptPubKey, the pinned registry output pays at least the declared minimum to the declared registry, and the pinned protocol output and record contain this exact declaration text
declarationSelectionRule=the earliest exact valid declaration transaction by confirmed block height then transaction index is authoritative; its exact carrier and qualifying registry payment outputs must each be unambiguous, and a later duplicate cannot move activation
activation=the first confirmed block after this declaration transaction
precisionRule=from activation, canonical current WORK maximum supply, mint increment, supply, balances, transfers, reservations, and listing amounts use exactly sixteen decimal places and canonical integer subatoms at 10000000000000000 subatoms per WORK; floating-point arithmetic, truncation to eight decimals, and magnitude-based scale inference are invalid
precisionMigrationRule=at the activation opening boundary, each confirmed canonical current eight-decimal WORK atom becomes exactly 100000000 sixteen-decimal subatoms by integer multiplication; maximum supply, mint increment, supply, and every holder balance conserve exactly under that mapping; raw confirmed history is not rewritten
transferRule=from activation, a new current-state WORK transfer is valid only as pwt1:send3:<token-id>:<amount-subatoms>:<recipient>; historical send and send2 bytes remain replayable evidence but cannot create a post-activation mutation
newListingRule=from activation, a new WORK listing is valid only under pwt-sale-v8, must authorize the single face 25000 proofs, and freezes unitAmountSubatoms at its confirmed canonical position; every other face or authorization version is invalid for a new WORK listing mutation
positionOrder=confirmed block height, then transaction index in that block, then protocol output index, then record ordinal
arithmeticOrder=integer multiplication and division only; multiplication before division; floor and ceiling are applied only where explicitly declared

confirmationRule=the 25000-proof face is authorized before broadcast; the exact subatom amount, price, minimum, N-before, listing position, and bond transition are derived and frozen only at confirmed canonical position
computeThenBondRule=derive listing terms from N-before after every earlier canonical protocol event; after successful validation add this listing record's distinct registry-payment contribution to its record-level N-after; apply each transaction's miner-fee contribution exactly once after all protocol records in that transaction and before the next transaction
networkValuePrecisionRule=network value remains exact Q8 integer proof accounting at Q=100000000; Q8 network-value precision is independent from Q16 WORK quantity precision
settlementRule=a confirmed V8 listing may be sealed or purchased only with its frozen terms; settlement never selects a current value and never reprices
readinessFailureRule=declaration-evidence mismatch, incomplete precision migration or replay, exact-tip disagreement, scale mismatch, conservation failure, or disabled protocol writes pauses official preparation and broadcast admission; no legacy precision or listing protocol is re-enabled after activation
validationFailureRule=a face other than 25000, nonpositive N-before, zero or over-supply derived amount, derived field in the signed authorization, insufficient WORK subatoms, noncanonical integer, wrong-era wire record, or arithmetic mismatch makes the new mutation invalid

pwm1:m:Hello World! — the opening of a 53-message exchange running from block 948,283 to 962,976, ending 'i only have one day left here, ill link you next time for sure'.

A working correspondence protocol, written directly into OP_RETURN outputs across three months of 2026. It tracks no ledger and issues no tokens — it uses the chain the way a mail server would be used, and reads as two people talking: greetings, wallet debugging, complaints that transfers show in the mempool but not the transfer log, discussion of an order book. Correspondents are addressed in email form, such as bitcoin@proofofwork.me. Four record types appear, which is why the transcript alternates between prose and what looks like noise. `m` carries a message. `r` is a reply, and begins with the 64-character hexadecimal SHA-256 of the message it answers — that hash is the threading. `s` carries a base64 signature. `a` is an attachment: a base64url header giving MIME type, filename and size, followed by the file itself in base64. Two files were sent this way — PROOFOFWORK_IDS.md, 9,324 bytes of Markdown, and 'pepe mic drop.jpeg', a 6,284-byte image. None of it is binary; it is all printable ASCII, but encoded payloads read as gibberish beside the plain-text messages. Mid-thread the participants run a 'DRAIN credit' experiment: an address whose private key is published on purpose, so anyone may sweep it and the sweeping itself becomes the accounting. It worked — 1.136 BTC has moved through that address across 291 transactions, with about 12,000 satoshis left. The key is permanently on-chain and is not reproduced here.
